Next steps MAQRO/QPPF meeting, Olomouc

Date 11/04/2019 – 12/04/2019

Time All day

Location Palacky University Olomouc

Description

Following the release of the final report of the QPPF study performed on MAQRO in ESA’s Concurrent Design Facility (CDF), this meeting will focus on the next steps towards realizing a quantum physics platform (QPPF) in space with its payload based on earlier work on MAQRO as well as on the results of the CDF study.

After an initial review of the CDF study results the goals of the workshop will be the following:

  • discuss how to address the critical issues identified by ESA, that means, vacuum conditions & loading mechanism
  • identify other challenges we may face
  • discuss the science goals
  • discuss potential payload modifications to bring the mission proposal up to date with recent developments

The meeting will take place on the 6th floor, room 6.014 at 17. listopadu 12, 77146 Olomouc, Czech Republic

REIMBURSEMENT RULES

The meeting is an event of the COST action QTSpace. Participants eligible for reimbursement under COST rules can get travel expenses reimbursed. The reimbursement rules for this particular meeting are:
Up to 300 Euro for travel (flight, train, bus, etc), up to 80 EUR per night for accommodation including breakfast, 20 Euro per lunch/dinner, 25 Euro total for local transportation costs (tram, bus etc).

How to get there:

Train (or car) is the best way to get there. When going via Vienna you can travel through Breclav or Prerov in the Czech Rep., where one should catch a connecting train (it’s quite smooth though). The overall travel time is about 2 hours by car or some 2.5 hours by train. There also are busses going directly from Vienna to Olomouc – e.g., Leo Express. These buses leave directly from Vienna International Airport and take a bit more than 3 hours.
When traveling long-distance, the best option is flying to Prague, then taking the Airport Express bus (or local bus+metro) to Prague main station and then coming to Olomouc by train (these run frequently and take less than 2.5 hours).

LOCAL HOSTS
The local hosts are Vladyslav Usenko and Radim Filip.
